About
A French school built backwards from the exam.
Francophone Academy teaches adults across Canada in live online classes — Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga, Calgary and beyond — who need a specific outcome: NCLC 7 or higher on TEF Canada in all four skills.

Meet your lead instructor
Tanisha sat the exam. Then she built the course.
Most French courses teach French and hope the exam takes care of itself. Ours was written the other way round — by someone who has held the TEF Canada attestation in her own hands and remembers exactly where the clock runs out.
Every other instructor here is certified — and personally evaluated by Tanisha in a live session before they ever take a class of their own.
Instructor standards
Every instructor is certified, and personally evaluated by the lead instructor.
Certified, and we'll show you
Every instructor holds a recognised French teaching or proficiency certification, and the documents stay on file.
Certification is checked before an instructor is offered a cohort, and the documents are retained. If you want to know what the person teaching your class holds, ask on the placement call and you will get a straight answer.
Personally evaluated by Tanisha
A live evaluated session before anyone gets a cohort — marked on delivery, error correction and exam accuracy.
The evaluated session is taught live to a real group. It is marked on three things: delivery, how errors are corrected in the moment, and accuracy against the TEF Canada format. A pass on grammar knowledge alone is not enough.
Reviewed every term
Observations repeat, and student results are read skill by skill so a soft spot in one class gets caught early.
Observations repeat each term rather than happening once at hire. Student results are read skill by skill, so a class where expression orale lags reading gets a change of approach rather than a change of excuse.
How we teach
Live classes, marked on the grid.
Classes are live and never pre-recorded. Each level ends in an assessment you can fail, so progress is observed rather than assumed. From B1 onward, work is timed. From B2, expression orale is recorded weekly and marked on the official grid, and the four skills are tracked as four separate numbers because that is how they are read.
Many students arrive with no French at all. That is a normal starting point here, not an exception.
